Would never have worked in Germany. There they call the dogs Alsatians.

Yeah but it was silly and for me no one does silliness better than Waititi right now. I laughed. It’s good natured humour that doesn’t pull anyone down for laughs, sometimes I miss that these days when everything is so arch and cynical. Hitler suffers a bit, granted, but who’s gonna argue he doesn’t deserve a bit of ridicule?

I’m pretty sure Germans would get the joke, anyway.

I thought it was hilarious, in a Mel Brooks sort of way. Or better yet, the Coen brothers. Or Monte Python. Take your pick. Pure silliness, for the sake of silliness.

OK so it would have flopped in Germany but it went over real well over here
