My review

I went and saw Jojo Rabbit today. This could end up being the most divisive film of the year (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). This unconventional comedy/drama is directed by Taika Waititi and stars Roman Griffin Davis, Thomasin McKenzie, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Rebel Wilson, and Taika Waititi. It is about a 10 year old boy in Hitler's army who discovers that his mother is hiding a cute Jewish teenaged girl in their attic. The film is outrageously funny at times, but also has somber and powerful dramatic moments too. The screenplay is sharp and well written. Waititi handles the material very well and manages to make the film work better than most directors could. The entire cast is fantastic. Young Roman Griffin Davis is excellent in a complex role and shows a lot of depth. The lovely Thomasin McKenzie is enchanting and brings a lot of heart to the film. Waititi plays a hilariously over the top imagined version of Hitler in a memorable scene stealing performance. Jojo Rabbit is a wild, unpredictable, unusual film with humour and heart. The film, director, actors, and screenplay are worthy of serious Oscar consideration. Love it or hate it, you won't forgot Jojo Rabbit. My rating is a 9/10.
