Don't can't me wrong this is a great movie. But it's no masterpiece or one of the best movies ever made.
I feel like the words "Masterpiece" and "Best ever" are being overused in both the world of Movies and TV
Just cause there wasn't that many great movies this year lets not start acting like this movie is Pulp Fiction
Its been one of the best in a overly poor year yes however there is nothing in the story that is anything new or revolutionary.
shareI don't know about masterpiece or best ever. I liked the movie a lot. It was a solid, fun crime thriller. IMO one of the reasons that movies like this may get excessive praise is because those of us who do not watch Marvel and DC movies have so little to choose from these days where intelligent film making is concerned. It appears that Hollywood is so busy falling all over themselves making comic book films that they just don't have any time, or money, left to make character driven dramas.
For someone like me, who has no desire to see comic book stuff, it just feels like a long drought in the film arena. Just my take on why films like this....that would have been considered a solid ***/**** back in the day......are suddenly being elevated by many to "art" status.
Why analyze this film when it is great? This film deserves more praise. Hell or High Water brought new plots.
