Treatment for Toby's wound?

I wonder if Toby found a sympathetic nurse or doc to stitch him up without reporting a gunshot wound to the authorities just after what would be a highly publicized shoot-out? Or maybe he pulled an Anton Chigurh, knocked off a drug store, and did it himself!

reply

I can't recall exactly what he uses, but he does indeed seem to pull an Anton Chigur while in his car. I think he's pulled over on the side of the road, uses his fingers to pry the bullet out, then pours rubbing alcohol (or something) on it. I got the impression the rest just sort of healed with time; I also hot the impression his wound was not nearly as severe as those suffered by Anton.

reply

If the bullet didn’t go deep its possible to treat himself.

I've just finished watching it and I'm pretty sure the brother did say there was an exit wound when he first examined him in the getaway car. Ok, so no bullet means he can avoid infection by self treating but if the bullet passed all the way through his waiste it would be a miracle if his intestines weren't seriously damaged, an organ hit or even spinal damage. I can't see how he would not have died without some form of hospital treatment.

The bullet went straight through just above his right hip bone as he was jumping in the back of the truck at the bank. Another 2-inches and it would have missed him altogether. I don't think it hit anything vital going through and Tanner didn't seem to feel like it was serious when he looked at it.

reply

To be honest tanner isn't a doctor, but people have survived worse wounds than that without doctor’s. It's just the luck of the draw, it didn't seem like it was bleeding all that much. So the bullet probably just went through flesh hitting nothing else in theory.

Superglue i wouldn’t put superglue on it provided he keeps infection out of the wound it should knit itself back but leave a horrible scar behind.

There was an exit wound, you can see it on the lower right side of his back when he's lying in the bed of the truck.

Now for my next impression... Jesse Owens!

He uses a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide, it can be purchased over the counter at any pharmacy or drug store.

Great for killing germs etc. Doesn't remove bullets however so that is still a mystery in the film.

The bullet went through so I just assumed he took care of it himself.
