Bank tellers not sealed off from public. Does anyone still see this?

Are there still banks in the US where you can reach out and touch the teller? I havent seen one in a very, very long time. They are always sealed off from the public with just a small opening on the bottom where you can pass things back and forth.

That used to be the case here but now tallers are exposed to customers.

Yes, the bank chain that I use (and every other bank in the area) has nothing between the teller and customer. I live in the midwest, very small community, closest city would be Minneapolis, which is about a three hour drive away.

Fun fact: an even smaller town about 20 miles north of where I live has a bank that Bonnie and Clyde robbed, still has the bullet holes in the building with a plaque on it.

Kind of shocking to hear that you haven't seen a teller exposed in a long time. Maybe you live in the ghetto or a big inner city? I live on Long Island and every bank I go to the tellers are just behind a counter, completely exposed. TD Bank, Bethpage bank, citibank, etc, they all just have counters.

I've always lived in middle class areas that are way, way out from the city center.

Beaverlodge and Grande Prairie Alberta Canada

Yep. I live in Texas and none of the banks around my area have tellers separated from customers. Now, the check cashing facilities here are different- the tellers are behind glass.

I live in a big city but come from a small town. Hadn't been in the bank in my town for many years and was totally surprised to see no plastic walls between me and the teller, and this was in one of the big banks also.

banks that still hold cash
this would not happen in europe, because there is none, no worries soon all cash will be gone altogether

reply

In 40 years of banking I've never been isolated from a teller beyond a counter.
