What town were the Texas Rangers supposed to be from? My boyfriend and I are disagreeing so tell me why you think they are from a certain town. Thanks :)

They are based in Austin, maintain statewide jurisdiction, and the Texas Rangers Museum is in Waco, Texas.

Edit: The Rangers in the film were probably meant to be based in West Texas where the action was supposed to be. The New Mexico Film Commission offers irresistible tax incentives and other perks to studios and production companies as has been mentioned by other posters.

They've got 6 field offices could have been El Paso or Lubbock

Ya I'm from Lubbock and I've seen the movie twice. He's positive they are from Lubbock but I think they kept talking about driving over to Lubbock. Not actually from there. I know we have Texas Rangers in Lubbock, I dated one. But I still think they were from somewhere else in Texas :) thanks for the input!

You are likely right with Lubbock. It is nearer to Post, Texas.

I'll take West Texas geography for a thousand please Alex.

They have a post in Plainview as well, but I didn't catch where they're from in the film.
