The son isn't actually paralyzed. He's pretending to be to get his mothers attention and when Jacob tremblay shows up he gets jealous and traps him in the house
How does that end up? Kill the son? Paralyze him for real? Watts adopts Tremblay?

shareI saw a preview screening months ago. There's no way I'm ever going to watch again it was so bad, so I was wondering about the end, if it changed. The ending I saw was this - There was a struggle at the lake, stepson was finally killed and floated to the bottom as police arrived. Epilogue was Naomi and Jacob driving in a car and stopping at a hospital to visit someone. Reveal that stepson is there, now in an apparent real brain damaged catatonic state. The audience laughed at that so I was wondering if ending now is different.

shareI haven't seen this and have no intention of ever doing so, but I'm curious; how does that work, exactly? The kid wouldn't be able to process the plan when he was a baby-child, so he had to have been moving around at some point, and I presume a healthy kid didn't go out, buy a wheel chair, and just stop moving until his mom went along with it. Was there an accident that didn't actually paralyze him but he managed to convince his mom (and I guess some hospital staff somewhere) that it did? Did he fake a disease that takes hold later and slowly paralyzes him?

Naomi Watts character throws an air tank in a great white shark's mouth. She then says "Smile, you son of a bitch", then shoots the airtank, blowing up the shark. There is also an extra scene after the credits where she blows up the Death Star in an X-Wing fighter!!!!...Hope that helps! : - )
