Please don't make this film!
another try at bastardising a classic...
shareI agree! Please don't remake this movie. But unfortunately it's going to happen. The only nod I'll give it is they are returning to the same neighborhood they filmed the original: Astoria, Queens. My nabe! How do I know? I saw signs posted near my block indicating parked cars have to be moved for filming purposes for Going In Style. And I may be showing my age here but I remember when the filmed the original here in the 70's.
So that's the only good thing I can think to say about it for now. They have a nice respect for the original.
Get a life!!! With three AA winners in the cast and a smart, funny director at the helm this could be great. It's not that the original Going in Style (good though it is) can be considered a timeless classic in the public mind.
share' The Public '-aka, ' The American Sheeple '
No, you get a life.
One would think there has been a writers' strike going on for the last 15 years. They try and try to remake successful films such as that Steve Martin/Goldie Hawn bomb "The Out Of Towners", "The Pink Panther" and many more. Not one good, original idea has come out of Hollywood except for a few, such as "About Schmidt". I'm too annoyed to mention the other few good ones after coming across this page, when I was looking for the Art Carney/George Burns original. There is a very good reason why the only film I've seen in the theaters in the past 10 years has been the new Star Wars. And with that film, it is obvious that the original characters from the 70's won't last because Disney will not want to spend money on those actors and replace them with the models from the Disney cookie cutter machine. Don't be too surprised when Disney waters down Star Wars with Han Solo films and more. Just like those insipid Marvel movies. Creativity is dying but some sheep will still buy those tickets.
shareI haven't seen the "original" one so I can't say anything about that. But demn, I want to see this movie soooo much!! I mean Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine? Yes please!!
