Lovely movie- classic fairytale/fantasy with no gritty realism
I see there are a lot of people who disliked the movie here, but I though it was very enjoyable: the imagery and the special effects were great, costumes were great and in comparison to the previous movie, this one gave the characters a lot more depth and stepped away from the classical black and white hero vs. villain battle.
It had some flaws: I thought the father/son conflict between the Hatter and his dad was a complete and boring cliche; Alice spent far too much time talking to herself and being Captain Obvious; she was also very reckless in messing with time- it was needed to further the plot, but risking the very existence of Wonderland should've had a better reason than saving the Hatter.
It had some pleasant surprises: Cohen was perfect in this role and Time was overall, the most likable character; Carter also played her character very well; we got to see different parts of Wonderland and this time, it felt like a living breathing fantasy realm.
