Worthwhile and Fun

I know the first movie in this series wasn't too well revived by critics, but I'm surprised this one got such a bad reputation. I think the story works well, there are some nice heartfelt moments, the visuals are killer, and the characterization of Time was enjoyable. Although this one isn't as dark as the previous, it still has the same wacky atmosphere. 6-6.5/10, a nice improvement over the first.

The credits are a nice throwback to the book as well! They reminded me of A Series of Unfortunate Events's a bit.

I agree with you!!! Much better than the first!!!

I agree! My husband and stepdaughters enjoyed it very much, too. Personally, I think the critics didn't like it because it makes you think a bit. It's about coming to terms with the past and learning from it, rather than letting it drag you down. It's about cherishing every single moment as the precious gift it is. I thought it was wonderful!

Did you watch it in IMAX 3D?

Couldn't have said it better myself, you hit all the points! Although this wasn't a five-star movie, it wasn't a disaster, either. The CGI is truly excellent (everything melted together so richly and beautifully), Time is entertaining, Mia Wasikowska is more compelling in this than the first, and the overall message of accepting how time changes our lives, dealing with loss, and moving on is beautiful and beneficial for audiences of any age. They also tried to develop Alice's mother as a character, which was an interesting touch. Overall, I'm glad I saw the film, and I thought it tried to connect with audiences in a more authentic way than the first.
