Is this film Alejandro G Inarritu's magnum opus, his best piece of work?

Considering he won 3 Oscars in 2014 because of this film, sending him into Stardom from an indie director to an auteur. Would you agree that this film is? please keep opinions peaceful.

I don't think this is his best film because he gained more popularity through birdman or the revenant. I didn't know about him before he realeased birdman so he wasn't that well known.

Well I think Biutiful is his best film. Some people just won't get certain directors though. It's like Ebert said, most moviegoers don't watch movies the same way others do. Once you're educated on what to look for, film becomes an entirely new experience. People who dismiss these movies as "arty-farty" or "shallow" are clearly not grasping the bigger picture.

What things should you look for?

I still think Amores Perros (his very first film) is his best with Birdman coming in at a close second.

Raging Bull = Best movie

Oscars or awards don't have anything to do with if this is his best work. The Oscars are complete bullcrap, same as all other award shows.

I think this is his best film because it's the one that I would watch again every year. I saw it twice in theaters. After I walked out of the Revenant I decided I'd never watch that movie again, although it was amazing. I'm sure if I grew up in the Midwest or Canada I would love The Revenant. But I'm a Hollywood person so Birdman really speaks to me.

I think it's one of the best films ever made. (Even though I don't totally get it. What's the meteor? What's the ending?)
