Morgantown, the 'big city'

I just love how they always refer to Morgantown as the "big city". It's not even that big! Even by West Virginia standards, it's bigger than most towns but it's not as if it's the biggest city in the state. They make it sound as if it's New York City! And anyone who's familiar with the area knows that Morgantown is not far from the "country" parts of the state. Once you get out of it, it's all hills and rivers. It's not far to go white water rafting and do other recreational sports. I just find it funny cause I actually live in Morgantown. Karma isn't even the most popular club here either. This show is so fake lol.

What clubs are good there? And where can you go white water rafting?

Well, I've heard mixed reviews about Karma. My roommate said it was awesome but I've heard that it's a pretty big sh!thole. I've never actually been there. Vice Versa is pretty good. Bent Willey's and Back Door are also some popular places. Joe Mama's is good so I've heard. 123 Pleasant Street and Dragonfly are good but not located on High Street. Mutt's is a very popular bar in Sunnyside. My mom worked at Gibbie's on high street when she went to WVU so it has some nice history. Varsity Club is a great place to eat at on Evansdale and a great place to drink before the game. We also have a very popular Hookah Lounge on high street that my friend worked at and she actually MET Cara there a couple of times. =P

As for white water rafting, most of that takes place downstate but in the Morgantown area, you can go white water rafting on the Cheat River which is right outside of the city. Cheat Lake is a very popular recreational area here.

I am from Morgantown as well and I did find it a little bizarre that we were referred to as "the big city". I mean, yes it is pretty much a big city by WV standards and it is fairly well known thanks to WVU, but what I find strange is that most of these "characters" live in Sissonville which is only like 15 miles from Charleston, which is not only the capitol but the biggest city in the state by far.

It is a big city to some in West Virginia, but if you have ever grown up in a big city like San Antonio, Houston, Chicago...you would think Charleston, Fairmont and Morgantown were more like small towns.

People are highly unaware in this thread. They aren't literal when they say 'big city'. Anyone with a brain knows that Morgantown isn't a big city by US standards. They just nicknamed it that so people watching would know what the cast feels is a 'big city' and for comedic effect. That is like them saying the place Shain lives in is 'The Palace' or the place the girls live in is the 'Queen's Estate'. Shain ain't no prince and the closest thing to queen the girls will ever get is the one that has the word 'dairy' in the front.

Surprised they haven't rolled up to Huntington yet. More clubs and things to do up there than Charleston. I lived there for a little over a year and Huntington was much more interesting to me.
