"Buckwild" Star Shain Gandee was found dead in a vehicle in West Virginia this morning ... 31 hours after the 21-year-old MTV reality star had been reported missing, this according to law enforcement.

According to officials, Gandee -- along with 2 other bodies -- was discovered in the vehicle in Sissonville, West Virginia.

As we previously reported ... Shain was last heard from around 3 AM on Sunday morning, when he and his uncle David Gandee told people they planned to go 4-wheeling.

It's unclear if 48-year-old David was one of the deceased people in the vehicle where Gandee's body was discovered.

It's not an April Fool's... local media all over the state is reporting it, as well as pictures and people posting that road is closed down.

If this is an April Fool's joke, then he deserves to lose his life.

The only reason to fake your own death is because your life is at risk. Otherwise, it is the sickest, stupidest joke anybody can pull.

I read that their car got stuck in the mud, the exhaust got buried in the mud and they didn't know. There was no cell reception so instead of walking home at night they fell asleep.

Noooo! I loved that boy! He was my absolute favorite from that show. I figured the Asian girl would be the first to die, considering the meth ring charges against her. Not Shain :(

I think this is a damn shame, and I don't understand all the insensitive remarks on the board right now either. Shain seemed like a genuinely decent kid, he enjoyed spending time with his family, and with his friends. He didn't come across as a douchebag or anything like that. Plus he was IMO the most entertaining person on the show. I think it's a shame.

The scenes with Shain's family were such an endearing part of the show, I wonder if we will continue to see them in some capacity or other. In any case, they definitely have my sincere condolences, I'm sure it's tough for them right now.

He was on a stupid show, trying to make money, just like anyone else on another other stupid show on television. It's one thing to make fun of someone who is alive, they can defend themselves, but he's dead now and his family is grieving.

I got a text saying from a friend saying his coworker (a relative) got the the call and left work in tears before they officially announced it.
