Problem with Edith's Mother's ghost
So when she first told her to beware of Crimson Peak Edith was 10, but it's 14 years later that she goes to CP. This means that all that occurs there is pre-determined. Therefore the ghost must also know that Edith will survive, and so makes her warnings unnecessary. Contrast this with a couple of classic "seers" from Shakespeare. When the Soothsayer tells Caeser to "beware the Ides of March," on that date doom did come to Caesar. When the prophetess Cassandra tries to stop Hector from fighting because she has foreseen a bloody end to him, a bloody and terrible end does indeed befall him. I guess one could say that in the old days if you wanted to FAFO fate was a sturdy character happy to oblige, and today--free will for everyone!
