Let Down!

they explained the entire movie and Revealed the cause of The Cloverfield Monster Literally in the first 10 mins and did it in a 1 mins "video" where Some Writing LITERALLY WORD FOR WORD says, "this particle accelerater could bring Monsters and Demons from other Dimensions"...

lol I watched the entire rest of the movie certain, there had to be more to it, but NOPE...They Literally explain the entire movie and reveal the cause of the Cloverfirld monster in the first 10 mins...

the only thing that doesnt make sense is....the movie clearly takes place in the future WAY beyond The timeline of the first Cloverfield movie, So when the end reveals the MONSTERS are on earth...this cant be the CLOVERFIELD time line...

the Cause for the Monster in Cloverfield is Explained in the first 10 mins when The Writer in the video says "These Monsters or Demons could come into reality in the past, present or future...

So basically The movie "Cloverfield" has to be taken place in the past, and "Cloverfield" is the result of The Cloverfirld Paradox, but instead the MOnster is in the PAST

there has to be The MOnsters invading earth in the future timeline and in The Past Timeline of "Cloverfield"

The End of this movie, has to be 50 to 100 years after Cloverfield, and it seems MONSTERS are everywhere in that timeline on earth...the end of the movie is NOT Cloverfield...

I think...

just a massive Let down...

they also didnt explain how 10 cloverfield lane fits in...I thought they were sitting something up with her husband and the kid going to a "Shelter"...I thought there would be a twist where that was the shelter from 10 cloverfield lane

if I'm missing something or got this entire wrong , please explain

I agree with you completely. Why make it so obvious with the cheesy video that early on? I was at least hoping that the ending would fit seamlessly into the start of the first Cloverfield, but, it just seems they gave themselves a blanket answer that covers all scenarios... a doorway was opened between universes that can make any crazy stuff cross over from any dimension and to/from any time. So, for all we know, the 10 Cloverfield Lane Earth was a third or fourth variation of the Earth alt realities that's also being invaded by some random creatures that came through the same door they opened in space-time.

P.S. It was only a small part, but one thing that I felt should have been cut from the movie for me was the dopey arm scene. Though it was amusing for a second, it was completely unbelievable and cheapened the seriousness of the overall story.

^^^boy if this truly is the explanation for 10 Cloverfirld Lane...its just unacceptable

The Timelines dont match up...that is just a massive problem...If "The Cloverfield Paradox" needed to take place at the same time as "Cloverfield...actually slight before...

what they needed to do, was have "The Cloverfield Shuttle" not only just dimensions but also Jump BACK in Time...

so basically to make it work, what needed to happen was, We needed to have The Shuttle jump to the other dimension, and instead of Jump to the exact same point into time...They needed to jump directly before "Cloverfield" starts...

lets hypothetically say, This Movie ""The Cloverfield Paradox" takes place in year 2097....when The Shuttle jumps demenions it should have jumped to "dimension 2, Year 2007"....then the same story takes place, only the crew and shuttle never make it back to "dimension 1, Year 2097",and the end is them coming down to "dimension 2's Earth" right before "Cloverfield starts, then we see The MONSTER, and have a better lead in to cloverfield....

even this still doesnt make much sense...

This Script simply doesnt make sense for the Cloverfield Universe...theres a massive FLAW in the Story....the only way this movie even remotely work is if its set way in the future where Space Technology and all Technology has Massively grown....But by setting in the future, In doesnt match up with The Cloverfield timeline....

the only possible way they could make it work was by this Absurd "Past,Present and Future" Plot point....

In the original Cloverfield, there was something falling from the sky at the end, most likely what set off the whole thing.

There was nothing falling to earth in this one (and they were all eaten by the monster, which makes no sense at all).

Crap movie.

going straight to netflix for a reason

disappointing to hear

reply

Wow seriously it's not gonna hit theaters? What a buzzkill.

reply

It's dreadful. No one will begrudge it too much as part of a Netflix subscription, whereas I know I'd have been furious if I'd paid full price for it at a cinema.

reply

It's like a bad Black Mirror episode.

Amen. JJ Abrams is about 1 for 10 so far in wrapping up a mystery series, and he's not improving that record with Cloverfield.

Several of the elements (actors, visuals, technicals, etc) are pretty good, but the central plot element to the whole Cloverfield universe - How/why are monsters coming to Earth - is still missing AFTER THREE MOVIES. Pretty obvious from his body of work (Alias, Fringe, Alcatraz, Revolution, Belive etc) that Abrams doesn't feel that the audience needs to know why anytime soon, and if the series gets cancelled before the story outline is finished, that's just fine. Or he can just end the series with a bunch of unanswered questions, and that's fine, too.

Hey, sometimes giant monsters appear and just squash things. We learned that way back when Godzilla met Bambi, or when we saw the Feast trilogy, or Pacific Rim, or maybe even The Mist. But the Cloverfield trilogy adds nothing to that, which is extremely disappointing.

I have a bad feeling about the Half-Life movie now.

You guys seem to be forgetting that Harvey Bullock, in his Alex Jones type way, said that the past, present and future could all collide.

That means that all Cloverfield universes came from this paradox and don't have to exist in one contained universe.

It also allows for the upcoming Nazi Cloverfield film.

^^^^Oh no...I mentioned that In my 1st Post...

I just find it absolutely Pathetic that The entire answer for The Cloverfield universe was revealed and given in The first 10 mins of the movie during a 45 second explanation....

I literally Watch the entire rest of the movie hoping there would be more to the story....hoping something would be added, but NOPE...

It truly is as simply as, "The Cloverfield Paradox" Takes place many years in the future after Cloverfield, the movie had to take place many years in future because its the only remotely possible way the story can make sense So Techology has advanced enough....But due to this Story Taken Place So far in the future, it presents A HUGE problem With Fitting in with Cloverfield....So Hilariously, They decide to solve this by the pathetic "Past Future and Present " 5 second Video spot

its just Absurd...

and doesnt actually make sense....Basically The end of the movie, where shuttle pod comes down to earth has to be at in Future at least 50 to 100 years after Cloverfield.

and Apparently In The Past, In 2007 Cloverfield, We know at least 1 Monster Showed up in New York...So the 2007 timeline should have effected the Future Time line In Cloverfield Paradox, The Monsters that show up at The end, would have already been there at least once nearly 100 years earlier...which would have certainly changed history resulted in the future we see in the cloverfield paradox NOT Happening...

also there truly is know explanation for 10 Cloverfield Lane which is infuriating....

I think you are missing the problem here.

The Shepard Accelerator isn't the Cloverfield one.

The Cloverfield one landed off of Coney Island and would fit in better with the Cloverfield (2008) that we know of.

The Shepard one is in a different reality altogether, possibly a worse one, maybe not.

The point being it is a monster movie as a backdrop, this was clearly a comedy. The arm was something out of Red Dwarf.
