Is Kidnapping A Funny Topic?

I was like WTF watching the beginning of the last episode. Was that Girl Meets World or Law & Order: Special Victims Unit?

Seriously, they opened with Maya kidnapping and handcuffing a woman to a radiator and stuffing her mouth with a bow.

I know it was supposed to be funny (it wasn't), but it was actually disturbing if you think about it. Maya and Riley just leave her there without food, water or a proper toilet and head off to school.

After escaping, the woman (a famous actress) is totally fine with it because her kidnapper happened to be the daughter of an old friend? Yeah, right.

And how did Maya kidnap her in the first place? Chloroform? Hit her over the head? Drug her?

I know it was played for laughs, but in this day and age, when women/teenage girls are kidnapped daily, was this really a good idea for such a progressive (read: liberal) show? I thought Rowan Blanchard was totally feminist.

Even though Rowan has an attitude problem and likes to think that she knows it all, while picking fights with anyone on social media that doesn't agree with her, I don't think that she has the authority to constantly tell the writers what she wants with every episode, as she's only 15 years old...although the lousy "STEM" episode definitely did have her influence.

With that being said, however, this episode was thought out and directed very poorly, and it was definitely one of the worst in a while. I just hope that they'll recover with the next episode.

I don't think she has much influence over the show. I could see her being involved in that STEM episode (which was really truly awful) but that's about it. The writers just have no clue as to what they're doing.
