Season 2 was really, really good. There was an obvious shift in content when the third season started: it's become exactly the same as it was in season 1. Season 1 wasn't great, but thats okay because we were still discovering and getting to know the characters. Every episode in season 2 (with the exception of Girl Meets Fish) was a stellar improvement from season 1. Season 3 was a complete downgrade and it reverted to season 1-like storylines, humour and (lack of) character development.

I've been catching up on all the Disney shows I watch/watched (Liv & Maddie, Austin & Ally, KCU & BFW) and its evident that L&M & BFW really stepped up in terms of content while GMW became a parody of itself. Best Friends Whenever, specifically, was surprisingly really good.

The problem with GMW is that it tries to shove 37 lessons in one episode, without offering much content/any resolutions for the plot lines.

I hope it does get renewed, but I also hope they get new writers.

It needs more than new writers. It needs to be on a new channel where they actually have Riley explore the world and get into some REAL situations Disney is too timid and scarce to touch on. Remember the 1990s in the TV show "So Weird" when they talked on death like crazy, depicted funerals, showcased a character in a coma, dealt with a character dropping out of school, depicted a parent who was a recovering alcoholic and had characters trapped inside of a burning building that nearly KILLED them? Yeah, we need THAT Disney back right now. Kids today will freak if they saw how Disney was just twenty years ago.

It needs new writers - that much is obvious - mostly they need writers who know and understand that this is a children's comedy show and not a soap opera. If they want that - then it would have to move to Freeform - I want a fourth season as well - but I don't want to see a soap opera about the love lives of 16 year olds..

Um, Disney channel did soap opera type shows. I did mention "So Weird" so it's not like a show with soap opera material can't be on this channel and not every show on Freeform has on-going story arcs. There's sitcoms on there. But as far as the actual Riley and Lucas relationship going, that needs to end. Keep them as friends. They can't even kiss like that anyway since Rowan is still a child and Peyton is an adult.

Still better than the other crap on Disney Channel nowadays (except maybe Elena of Avalor; that show is surprisingly exceptional for current Disney Channel).
