Why can't Netflix take it
Is there some specific restriction that prevent any attempts to move the show to Netflix or even another non-Disney owned network?
shareThere's no reason, really - if Netflix wants to purchase shows and Disney/ABC Studios and Jacobs want to produce episodes and a deal can be made and the show resembled, it can come back.
Disney has been quiet on any possible shopping the show around to the digital platforms and Jacobs has said nothing.
That's if and only if Disney can sell it to another network for a reasonable price. I'm sure they wouldn't hand it over unless they made some sort of a profit after investing so much money into it. I doubt anybody's standing in line to purchase the rights to GMW.
I highly doubt Netflix would even give it a second thought, seeing as how the ratings were not improving on a station that's provided to ordinary cable subscribers. Plus, they can also view their own statistics to consider if it's worthy based on revenue for previous seasons. Something tells me that it's not fairing well.
It would probably take at least three-quarters of the original and newer fan base in order for Netflix to continue the series. I don't see that happening.
I still say it has a chance on Freeform, but that's if Disney is willing to roll the dice on Michael Jacobs & Co. Rider Strong and Sabrina Carpenter moving along isn't necessarily a good sign.
It would be nice to see if the writing was any better in the fourth season.
