I haven't seen any of those films yet, but strange as it sounds your picks are exactly what I was imagining based on the input I read from the recent TIFF. I do think Amy Adams will lose to Natalie Portman, and I also think Denis Villenueve will probably lose to Damien Chazelle. I thought Whiplash was incredible! Even though I haven't seen Birdman yet, I'm fairly confident it wouldn't overtake Whiplash as my favorite from last year (since I connected so well with it).

I definitely look forward to seeing Silence, Hacksaw Ridge, Manchester By The Sea, and La La Land almost as much as Arrival.

I haven't seen any of those. Some of them aren't released, at least here in the UK. But thanks because i just looked them up and they're getting great reviews and it's been a while since I saw a good movie!

I think Hell or High Water could also make its way onto the list
