Arrival's Innate and Contextual Meanings

How much of Arrival will be defined by what it is about outside of the context of anything other than itself as a film based on a short story written years ago...and how much of it will be defined by the context of the times (I'm talking politically) in which it was released?

At any rate...it was a beautiful and entertaining film all around. I'm sure it will be talked about for years to come and for many many reasons.
