Is this a reboot of the Charlie sheen alien movie ?

Much closer to a reboot of Contact (1997) than The Arrival (1996). But I had a similar thought going into the movie.

In fact I was also wondering if it had anything to do with the cloverfield universe from the posters and trailers.

They seriously don't give you any idea what the movie is actually like.
