Do you watch dubbed or in French?

Curious. Dubbing isn't popular in English speaking countries, most prefer subtitles and to hear the original audio.

But this has both.

reply

French with subtitles. I prefer it even though it's somewhat annoying to have to keep my eyes glued to the bottom of the screen. I find that dubbed versions of tv and movies sound very artificial and detached.

reply

I have been watching dubbed with subtitles on. They are so off between what is said and what is subtitled. some are very funny or completely off. For instance in the 2nd episode when he orders the hamburgers the dub says: well done. the subtitle says: rare.

reply

I watched it dubbed into Spanish and with English subtitles ( I enjoy improving my Spanish.).

They were quite different at times. Sometimes I feel they're lazy and just will put something basic instead of specific, like "that will do."

reply

I've definitely noticed this as well as I begin to watch more Non-American Netflix stuff.

reply

That's because dubbing and subtitles are two different translations.

reply

Have you watched Fauda? I watched that with subtitles. I read an article that said if you could understand it in its original language there are lots of jokes that don't really translate in the subtitles because there is no English translation for them. Even so, I thought the subtitles were quite good.

reply

I always have to watch everything in the original language. Can't watch anything dubbed.

reply

Agree with this^

Unless I have no choice, I avoid dubbing. It lends a subtle hint of learning disability to everyone.

reply

LOL a subtle hint of learning disability. That's an interesting way to put it.

reply

Me too.

I havent watched this yet, but if i do then it will definitely be original audio with subtitles, even though the french language is such a chore to hear. Barabarians was very fun to listen to because I dont mind german and know that old english came from old german. Latin is pretty fun to listen to.

Interesting, most people would say that French is very beautiful!

Like the Merovingian said back in Matrix 2, it's like wiping your arse with silk. πŸ˜„

reply

To me, its like listening to brazilian portuguese, it sounds like they went to a construction site and shoved whatever rubble into their mouth and are trying to speak with that shit in their mouth.

reply

Still though, disliking French and liking the sound of German is mighty unusual. 😊

reply

German is more funny to listen than anything actually lol

reply

German sounds bad ass. French sounds very feminine. It's a woman's language and doesn't sound right coming out of the mouth of a man.

reply

Japanese is right there with German lol.

reply

Agreed! Japanese also sounds like a strong, masculine language, and whenever someone speaks it it always sounds like they're making a blood oath to defend their honor.

reply

ROFL!
