The acting for the table scene

Breath-taking acting, that was actually amazing. I actually had tears streaming down my face.

Couldn't agree more. Amazing.

So good, heart wrenching

I didn't think it was that great to be honest, and I am a fan of the show.
Obviously was the "big scene" of the episode, but it did not feel that authentic to me.
I don't know what the hell Sean was doing there, and surely Lol would have revealed the truth about her dad to her sister in a much less public way first (?), and telling her mum that she had killed her husband in such a public way ?
Surely both conversations would require a one to one, not a "scene".

I did find this whole episode was very dragged out, especially after what i thought was a great second episode.Still I have enjoyed this series overall, and looking forward to the finale

I think sean was there because he was close with combo, and was the only person besides lol who knows him well enough to side with her opinion that he's changed that kelly/milky couldnt call *beep* on and was there to reinforce a reason to trust what lol was saying.. But they didn't really utilise him very well and thus he felt out of place.

reply

Yeah, leftmefordead. I think that's why he was there too. Almost to provide a balance of sorts with Lol's nurse as a neutral to it all.

The issue with Sean is that he's not seen Combo since he was a wee kid so can't really have known whether he's changed or not. I suppose he did spend time with him when his mother died.

I guess as much as anything, that's the group and they felt it best to share with everyone. They said as much during the scene.

I thought the scene was incredible so realistic no overly scripted dramatic speeches, felt like i was witnessing something very personal.

Re Sean...
Remember Combo showed up at Seans when his mother died in 86 and Sean still stuck by him. So its not unbelievable that he would have stayed in contact with Combo when he went to prison. Sean was also there when Milky was beaten up and helped Combo take Milky to hospital. He was a child an Lol and Woody probably understand how much that effected Sean and invited him as they felt he would be effected by the whole situation. Woody after all was a surrogate father figure to Sean before Combo split the group.

I kind of agree with the person above. I wouldn't say the acting was breath-taking. I thought the actresses were good in the scene, particularly McClure. The guy who plays Milky I've never really rated. I thought the guy who played Woody was great in the film. Here when he's trying to be really emotional, he doesn't quite convince me. It's a little jarring having a guy who spends 99% of the time being sarky, acting all emotional over a deeply serious subject. And on that note, I too found such a personal and sensitive matter being revealed in front of everyone around a dinner table, strange. So they have a nice roast dinner was it (?), and for dessert we have a reveal about the dad being a rapist and Lol being his murderer? OK.

reply

The only thing that could have made the table scene better would be if Shaun casually said "So whats for dessert" after Milky leaves the table.

"you've ruined the moment Ginge!"
