no banjo???

Anyone know what happened to him? Also thought some of the lads from the film (pukey) was gonna show up, obviously that was scrapped

reply

Still 2 more episodes. People keep talking about things being scrapped for some reason....

I don't see Pukey returning though. That was only a rumor anyway.

You could be my favorite faded fantasy...

reply

Yeah, with Jack O'Connell being quite a big name now, that would have been news if he was returning.

Banjo may still cameo though.

Wasn't until I saw your thread I even gave him a minutes thought. It seemed strange to me he'd be part of the gang.

I totally saw how it could happen with Harvey (and even for Flip to have some involvement in them) but Banjo was out of place.

I don't think he was missed at all in the episode.

reply

Banjo needed Meggy, a similar age mate to bounce off of. It seemed a bit odd in 88 with Banjo and no Meggy.

I didn't really buy his turn in three short years from an out and out evil racist bastard (unlike Combo who isn't bad or racist, just very mixed up) to a cuddly teddy bear. That was one of my very few problems with TIE.

Didn't buy his return in 86 / 88 either, became like a different character

reply

It seems like he's gonna appear on the last episode because he's on the cast list and so is Meggy, Kez and Pob :-).

reply

Banjo is on cast list so must be that he's going to be showing up.

reply

isn't Meggy dead?

reply

He had a heart attack in TIE 86 but he didn't die.

reply

Meggy died in between '86 and '88.

reply

Meggy was in the final episode at the wedding lol.He never died.

reply

Yeah, I just saw the final episode. One of the producers (Mark Herbert) said on twitter, and I quote, "The character Meggy sadly died in 1987 having a dump", and later, "That dump by Meggy in 86 series was just a heart attack. The dump that killed him was off camera in 87". So unless they're going for a "long lost twin" thing, he was just talking bollocks.

*beep* I wonder how that will be explained, I guess he didn't really die, and someone just made up the rumour.
Good to see Banjo and him make cameo appearances at the end though.

reply

It won't be explained because it was never mentioned on screen (plus the series is over now). People just took a jokey Twitter comment as canon...which is understandable as it came from one of the producers.
