People can change their views on many things, racism, sexuality beliefs, religion etc ..
Take American History X for instance
Time in prison, enduring abuse inside - befriending a black guy ... all changed his racist beliefs.
I'm hoping Milky doesn't completely f^ck combo up as I like him ...

American History X was a film. You seriously can't use that as an example.
shareNo. Combo doesn't hate Milky. Combo hates that his father was never around for him and because his father was black, he projects that hate towards all black people, hence, his racism is really just an excuse for his inner torment and turmoil.
The reason Combo flies off the handle and attacks Milky isn't because of the colour of his skin, it's because Milky (being unaware of why Combo is troubled) talks extensively about his family, the bond he shares with them and the close-knit community his family enjoys. This represents everything that Combo always wanted but was neglected and because Milky is talking with such enthusiasm for his family, Combo mistakenly takes this to assume that Milky is boasting or ridiculing or teasing Combo.
Combo also believes that because his father was black and was a rubbish father, that all black men are inherently rubbish fathers. There is some irony here because, Combo winds up taking the fall for Lol killing her father, Mick, a nasty, abusive, violent, sexual predator, who is white and because Milky is the father to Lol's child, Lucy, and Lol implies to Combo during a prison visit that Milky isn't much of a father to her because he is never around.
