The conclusion of Milky

So I pretty much ended up hating Milky by the end of it, although it was obvious Combo would be killed by how happy he his new life was being portrayed.

I hated Milky, but by the end I think we had found our conclusion to the Milky character.
The conclusion is that although Milky had got his revenge against Combo and had him killed, he was left sad, alone and guilt ridden. The wedding scenes show how isolated he is from the rest of the group, and how his obsession with gaining revenge from his past had ruined his future.

I guess there's a morale/lesson in the Combo/Milky story, and you could see it a number of ways, but I think the writing of this show has portrayed that message of two wrongs don't make a right.

Agreed, I hope he never sleeps another night knowing what he's done. I didn't dislike him, but I dispise him now. How ironic is it that the better man is probably dead now.

reply

To be honest, somewhat agree but look at objectively . I somehow feel he was pushed into this decision. That it wasn't all his idea but his uncles. You could see he had remorse when combo was taken away.. He knew strider away that it was wrong (even before when he seemed hesitant on the phone).

I think if it was down to him they would have had just a cup of tea, talked, and let by gones be by gones

You're right. He was pushed into it. That's why I despise him so much. He exposed himself as nothing but a coward.

He listened to Combo's reasons, he understood them, then did nothing as he left a good man to die just to appease his family's desire for revenge - when really, the history and the relationship between Milky and Combo had absolutely nothing to do with them. Those so called uncles were probably seeing Combo for the first time in their lives.

He was pushed into it but he could have stood up to his family. After all, he was the one who was horrifically attacked by Combo all those years ago, they shouldn't be the ones to decide how the situation was dealt with. Like Woody said forgiveness is underrated, but Milky turned out to be a spineless coward. He could have warned Combo what they had planned for him but instead he led him to his death.

reply

If he knew it was wrong then he could've had a word with his family, and at least TRIED to stop it... He didn't.

When those van doors opened I was so hoping Milky would come screeching up in his Ford Capri to call his family off and save Combo, rather than those two heavies appearing and dragging him away.

But I suppose that would have been a bit too hollywood happy ending and not Meadows style at all.

reply

Yeah, I absolutely despised Milky by the end; compete and utter coward. Poor Lisa now has two killer parents.

Well done Mr Meadows, you've made the original villain into a sympathetic victim and vise versa.. I can't think of that ever being done successfully before.

We don't need these happy endings.

What made Milky's actions even worse, were the fact that he the sacrifice Combo had made for Lol because that was confessed to him during the dinner party. He knew that Combo had taken Milky to the hospital following the assault, he knew that Combo was a man seeking redemption because of the sacrifice he made to Lol and he knew that he was a man who was trying to seek forgiveness because Combo explained to Milky in the cafe the reasons behind the assault.

Damn it. Combo was the character i cared about the most. I really hoped that milky would let go of his thirst for revenge (even if he prolly couldnt forgive him). Now hes gone past the point of no return.

I was devastated by the ending. I didnt expect it to be this dark. But i also respect it all the more because of it. Cant remember the last time i felt this much despise for a character. That shows what a great writer Meadows is.

reply

Yes I agree with your conclusions. Combo was the better man by the end he was willing to get in the car and trust Milky and he could have just told him where to go and not got in the car.

Forgiveness is underrated.

I absolutely loved Combo. For me personally it was about the redemption of a man who was seemingly past saving.

He was the bravest character of all to me.

I was so gutted by the ending, it really affected me!

Goodnight, good luck and may your God go with you
