Combo's Fate...
He did NOT deserve to die. That part killed me to watch.
sharetoo right and milky was a craven coward to go through with it after he knew combo had changed...jeez he beat him up he didnt rape him for gods sake....
of my mind
'' I don't know what's in there, but it's weird and it's pissed off''
It was painful! I felt sick as soon as he got in the car. Milky had every reason to want Combo take a beating but having him killed was ridiculous!
He even knew that that Combo had gone to prison for Lol and like Woody said, he'd been forgiven by enough people to understand the nature of it.
Combo was truly redeemed and rehabilitated.
I cant believe how much this affected me, I even dreamt about it last night!
Goodnight, good luck and may your God go with you
Agree with all that. It was years later, everyone had moved on and Combo redeemed himself for taking the wrap for Lol. Someone he supposedly loved and had a kid to. Which like you said, Milky banged his best mates girlfriend & Woody eventually forgave him for. Which for me was a far bigger wrong than Combo's beating but hey that may be just me.
Like I've said elsewhere, at the end of the 3rd episode, with Milky shadow boxing at home. It looked like he was just going to give Combo some of his own medicine, which imo would have been fair play. But ho no not Milky, he had to get teamed up and had him taken out, like he's a gangster or something.
Just finished watching the last episode an hour ago. The whole Combo and Milky scene has been on my mind since.
The whole scene was just unsettling to watch. Combo was a complete changed man spewing his heart out to Milky saying that he's deeply sorry and that he forever regrets what he did. I lost all respect for Milky when he continued to let Combo get taken away like that. Especially from the fact that Milky knew himself that Combo had changed for the better.
When Combo arrives at the Warehouse, the fear, screaming and cries he was letting out made Me break. It was so horrible to watch..
Jesus told Me to *beep* him up.
The part that got me was when Milky said "I'm sorry"
and Combo replied with "I forgive you. I just hope that someday, you can forgive me" :-(
I didn't like that either but then you have to think - Milky didn't survive because Combo took pity on him, Milky only survived out of luck and I'm sure Combo was responsible for many other violent acts, some which may also have led to deaths so why does he deserve mercy when he had none for his victims? The only reason I didn't like this was because of what it did to Milky
shareCombo took Milky to hospital didn't he. I'm obviously not sticking up for Combo's actions but he did what he did to Milky, then realised he went way too far and took him there with Shaun, that saved him. Ateotd he could have just left him there.
All the rest about violent acts, that may have led to death and no mercy for his victims is just guess work.
All we knew about him is, he was mates with Woody in the skin head Ska scene, he went to prison for something he & Woody did (read somewhere that it was meant to be a robbery of some kind but they didn't put it in) but he didn't grass on Woody. Then came out of Prison with radical racist views. Also remember he went to prison for what he did to Milky, 3 years he got and was next seen bursting into Shaun's house all screwed up around the time his mother dies.
It was pretty obvious he'd completely changed after taking the wrap for Lol and tbh he didn't have the same views & attitude when he first came back in the TV series. Serving all those years for Milky and then as some sort of redemption, taking the wrap for Lol.
If you believe in an eye for an eye, Milky should have just given Combo the kicking he gave him shouldn't he.
Add to that if I was Woody I'd have smashed Milky to bits for shagging my girlfriend, but Woody was the bigger man & forgave him. Milky of all people should have leaned that lesson but he wasn't the better man and just wanted revenge. When Combo comes out of all this as the better person, you know how far you've sunk.
I don't think he is dead, Meadows has switched the roles here.
At the end of the original film everyone believed Milky was the one who was dead - he was not.
I'm reasonably sure the same thing has happened here. Combo could easily have been made to think he was going to die, been given a good kicking, then been told to get out of town and never show his face again.
It entirely depends on how Meadows wants to do 'This is England '9x''.
Yes Agree Meadows could pull a fast one but from listening to some of the actors interviews, there won't be anymore, this was the end.
Vicky McLure said:
“As far as I’m aware this is the end of the This Is England tale,” she told Radio Times. "But if Shane Meadows [the director] turned round in ten years’ time and said, ‘We’re going back’, all of the cast would drop what they’re doing and just go and do it."
There has to be another one. The lack of proper resolution, you can't leave it hangin like that. It's assumed he's dead but it's proper storytelling to show the killing or at least the dead body lying. As it stands he's dead. Just not very impressed with the unconventional conclusion because the scenes leading up with Milky and Combo were brilliant and everything else going on with the other characters was a bit of a distraction.
shareHopefully there is, it's just what's been said. But it's a bit like the end of the original film, where we were left not knowing the true outcome.
Lets just hope Meadows gets the time and new ideas for a new series because they've all been awesome viewing imo.
I mean '86 & '88 were released a year apart in 2010 & 2011 and then we had to wait 4 years till '90 was done, so who knows maybe he'll do another.
Shaun's mother explained before the film ended that Milky was gonna be ok. Milky's fate wasn't a cliff hanger, although to me at least it's obvious that Combo was gonna get killed.
