I'm irked about the Rise of Skywalker Blu Ray!
OK, let me lay down some backstory for this rant.
The Star Wars movies use a specific font for English subtitles that display alien-speak. This font is used for all the theatrical releases and were burned into the picture on all the VHS releases. Solo made them yellow, which was stupid, but that's another issue.
When the films were released on DVD, the subtitles were generated by you player, which irritated me to no end, as the DVD player subtitles were blocky and pixelated. However, at the time, I was willing to accept the trade-off for the superior picture and sound.
One of the cool things about Blu Ray was that the Star Wars subtitle font was able to be loaded with the film onto your player. So, while your Blu Ray player still generates those alien-speak subtitles, they still display in the traditional Star Wars font. This is one feature that still made me favor my Blu Ray releases over an HD or 4K streaming versions. The Disney+ Star Wars films all have generic fonts in those scenes instead of the traditional font.
Well, for some reason, the TROS Blu Ray dropped the Star Wars font. Not sure why, but alien-speak subtitles are displayed in your player's generic subtitle font. All the other Star Wars Blu Rays (that I own) have the traditional font. It really irks me, yo!
