Can you imagine anyone other than Daisy as Rey ?
I can't.
Are joking? There's like a hundred other gals that could have played her.
shareName five.
Here are some names:
Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Watson, Virginia Gardner, Jessica Brown Findlay, Claire Foy.
I think they would have been good also in the role, but they weren't selected for a variety of rational reasons and Daisy struck a chord with the producers so clearly was considered best. I have no criticism of her.
Well Jennifer is on the nose after the #MeToo business. Emma is a poor actress. JBF probably not since the dick pics. And Claire Foy born in 1984 probably too old.
Shame about that - a bunch of people falling by the wayside.
However, with Virginia Gardner there might be an alternate version. Thinking about some of what she says here, it's uncanny: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1JWQmmN_i4

2 Saorise Ronan
3 Emma Watson
4 Margot Robbie

Would any of those actresses have the physical fitness required to make Rey believable ? The only actress I can think of apart from Daisy would be Isabelle Fuhrman but she is five years younger than Daisy and not as pretty so I'm not sure how that would have worked out.
Oh and probably Saoirse Ronan. I forgot she had trained up to play Hanna so she would likely have been willing to do it again although Rey was a much more demanding role than Hanna physically.
Daisy was assigned a personal trainer in preparation for the role after being cast, the exact same for any actor being cast for a physically demanding role with a large enough budget.
shareSERIOUSLY?...THEYRE ALL HIGH PAID HOLLYWOOD ACTRESSES...EVERY ONE OF THOSE WOMEN WOULD HAVE OR ALREADY HAS DONE THE GYM/TRAIN HUSTLE.SHOW UPON SET IN ANY DEGREE OF FITNESS NECESARY.QUITE FRANKLY...TO ME DAISY IS THE BIGGEST WEAK SPOT OF THE NEW TRILOGY.
shareYes seriously. Can you see Emma Watson going through the training that Daisy did ? Because I can't. Too much like far too much bloody hard work.
Sure. Daisy isn't even fit - it's all cables and cgi, she doesn't actually do any of the athletic stuff in these films.
Her running style is very uncoordinated too - similar to that of people who have no idea how to play basic sports etc.
Emma Stone mayhaps?
shareI had no problem with the actors or characters. Just the script. directing, some cinematography and lack of creative visuals.
shareShe suites the role definitely.
Another option would have been to glamorise the character, highlighting her female qualities. Of course, this might have been seen as sexist and probably would have lessened the credibility and realism of the character. Having a fuller figured young woman playing the role might be appealing and add sex appeal, but how would that relate to the character who is supposed to have been living in an environment since childhood where she was just getting by with very little money and resources?
. . . and probably would have lessened the credibility and realism of the character.
We see that Rey is constantly having to navigate a dangerous desert environment when we first meet her, so those problems you mention are clearly likely or possible. But would it make much of a difference if she was a more attractive woman versus a plainer one? If she has fighting ability and can escape traps and predators as we've seen Rey do wouldn't she have the same chance of surviving? My idea was that a person would not develop the same way in a more comfortable environment, without the stresses and physical demands of a hostile environment, and thus it would make less sense to present Rey in a glamorous light as a result.
shareyes, i rather not, i prefer no name actors in Star Wars
shareHorsegirl is very replaceable she can't act and looks like a horse
Kat Dennings for example would be better
YOU WOULD LIKE FOR KAT DENNINGS TO PLAY ALL THE FEMALE ROLES IN ALL THE MOVIES,HUH?
shareThat would be nice
shareWhat if she had to play a part all dressed up as a horse with big teeth ?
It would be pretend unlike horsegirl who looks like a horse
shareI see so it's really Daisy's authenticity you can't stand. The horse has nothing to do with it.
She looks like a horse already
shareYes so you keep saying but don't you see ? You're fine with Kat Dennings dressed up as a horse with big teeth because it's only pretend. So it's not the horsey part that bothers you. You have just fixated on horsiness subconsciously because it justifies your animosity towards Daisy. Daisy is kicking goals and you can't stand it ! You should listen because normally this stuff costs upward of two hundred dollars an hour...
Jesus, you've got one serious girl crush / power fantasy going on there.
I'll bet you're looking at a poster of her on your wall right this minute.
Kat Dennings is awesome but she would play the role quite differently and probably not engage in the strenuous physical stuff.
shareMagnetic personality, she has: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWMNdKlII0U
shareI’d would of preferred that character to of been a male , Tye Sheridan
