Besides the absurdity of giving him one 42 years after his friends got one.

Handed a medal: "Here you go, Chewie. This is for you."

It was Han’s medal she gave to Chewie.

They didn’t have a new one commissioned 42 years later you wang.

It was a nice end touch. Mainly there to keep the little Snowflakes happy. And they did melt.
