What are YOUR expectations for the film?
I'm somewhere between "cautiously optimistic" and "regretfully pessimistic".

shareJar Jar doesn't know how to end stories. He's good at marketing and creating 'mystery boxes'.
My expectations: he will do what he always does, he will create a possible storylines and will leave them there, saying that he's 'opening possibilities' or some similar excuse. Not plotlines will be properly closed, and probably many of them won't be even closed. The movie is not gonna feel like the final chapter of a trilogy, but as an additional episode.
I expect the film will be a solid finale, and a part 9 that wraps up the previous 8 films in a satisfying manner. We'll get answers to the questions that have been presented, and there will be a breathtaking finale that will bring tears to the eyes of those in the audience. What Abrams did with Star Trek and The Force Awakens was phenomenal, and I can't imagine anything less than his best work on display here.
I also expect that the handful of folks who have spent the past 4 years bashing the new Star Wars films will hate it and have nothing but negative things to say about it regardless of the quality of the film.

A hot mess
shareBased on the previous four films I’m not expecting much
shareNone
shareLow. But, hopefully it will be entertaining in whatever way it can be.
I don't imagine myself sitting through the first two movies of this trilogy again. But, maybe this will at least have some decent space battles. And, John Williams is providing his final "Star Wars" score.
It's kind of like asking what my expectations are for the third course of a very shitty meal.
