I've never seen a TV ad for a movie trailer before.

But I've seen one now! Yes, a brief ad saying that a new trailer for this silly movie would premiere on monday night.

I rolled my eyes so hard I sprained some tiny ocular muscles.

...aaand she's gone.

Hopefully, she will go with the Wilhelm Scream this time around... after Darth Maul's stupid resurrection, it looks like that's the only way to make sure someone is properly dead.

It's a marketing trick.

By promoting a trailer, they want to send the message that there's so much expectation than the trailer itself is a product that deserves to be promoted.

They're trying to sell expectation. Jar Jar Abrams is very good doing that, usually through viral marketing. The news here is that they need to use paid ads.

Disney recently admitted they want SW movie releases to be an event in order to get fans excited.
That ship has sailed.

Somehow I'm reminded of "The New Terrance and Phillip Movie Trailer" South Park episode. :)

I feel like the trailer from that episode will have been better than whatever schlock is coming tonight.
