will be a miracle if this is any good
seems like Johnson destroyed anything that might set up an interesting sequel
JJ actually should concentrate on great action sequences first than plot, sad

the miracle didnt happen, overall it was a stinker, but out of the 3, I liked this one the most.
shareThis one relied too much on luck, for just about everything in its plot. Palpatine way underused. Stupid battle at the end. However, great popcorn movie and fun for the whole family. I too enjoyed it more than the other two sequel trilogy movies.
shareYou love this (???) even though it destroys the Original Trilogy???
That is what I am saying too; no matter how good of a mindless action film this is, by bringing back the Emperor it effectively undoes everything from the original. It is basically an unforgivable in my book. Not only that, but the entire trilogy was a botch job that clearly did not plan on this reveal and then throw it on screen in a desperate attempt to capitalize more on nostalgia alone, and you know that is the case because they did not hide it in the marketing. It was a selling point, not a in story twist.
shareNo, I don't love this, but I did enjoy it more than the other two sequel trilogy movies. (I reworded the above, lol)
shareThey all rely pretty heavily on luck. The odds of a farm boy that is actually a sith lords son ending up with R2, who was looking for Obi Wan is a huge stretch.
shareIt was not that much of a stretch given the logistics of the situation. The stated goal was to get the Death Star plans to Obi-wan, Obi-wan was on that planet specifically watching out for that farmboy who was the son of his friend that turned to the dark side and Obi-wan purposefully stayed close to his son to watch out for him. The droids were on their way to Obi-wan. Jawas were regularly on the hunt for droids and parts, it is not a stretch they would find a few randomly lost droids. and given Obi-wan's proximity to Luke it is not a stretch that those Jawas would be in the same region. You can say it is a little bit of a stretch that the first stop was the Lars's farm and a bit of a stretch that Owen happens to buy the very droids needed to move the plot forward, but not a huge stretch because they are all within an acceptable proximity of each other.
The bigger stretches come from the fact that R2 and C-3PO were previously Anakin's droids and that it was convenient that Obi-wan had nothing better to do than stay and watch Luke. but those were more issues presented by the prequels and not so much of an issue in the originals.
There was a few conveniences sure; but I would not say they were so huge that they stretched 'believably'.
Didn't they first try to buy some other robot besides R2D2 but it malfunctioned immediately and C3PO then recommended R2 because he was better in bed or something?
shareYes, it was an R4 with a bad motivator (whatever that is). But C3PO was the actual purchase Owen needed and then C3PO recommended R2 was in good condition.
