Probably did, another gimmick to compensate for a lack of creativity.

The alien tit milking scene was pretty creative in my opinion. It may have ruined Luke forever but i doubt anyone saw it coming.

He filmed a star... the sun. When he shot scenes outside during the daytime. It subverted your expectations, see?

I wanted to verify and it was tough to search this old news, but now I see why it was so hard to find! It was Colin Trevorrow who was looking into shooting actual stars for Episode 9, before he got booted:

“I asked the question, ‘Is it possible for us to shoot IMAX film plates in actual space for Star Wars, and I haven’t gotten an answer yet, but they’ve shot IMAX in space!”

Christopher Nolan responded that he also looked into outer space filming for Interstellar:

“Funny enough, we had that conversation with Interstellar,” said Nolan. “There’s incredible footage from space now.”
