Yoda is old. He was less than 30 years from his death in that scene.
Luke defeated Vader in the second lightsaber fight of Luke's entire life, without EVER being trained in lightsaber combat, and without ever practicing against another fighter.
Vader was supposed to be the best. Vader had been using a saber longer than Luke had been alive. Vader killed countless Jedi, he purged them. This means Luke is better as a "natural" than ALL the trained Jedi.
But Luke is a guy so all his numerous shortcuts are OKAY, apparently. Numerous. NUMEROUS. Shall I bump the "Luke is the very definition of a Mary Sue" topic?
Vader did not want to kill Luke. That's why he won, and why Luke sensed the light in Vader, and gave him the feeling Vader could still be saved. That's why Luke won. Not because he was better, but because Vader hadn't gone all the way to the Dark Side and couldn't bring himself to kill his own son.

rey is a mary sue and there is nothing you can do about it. Attacking every thread on these forums has achieved ZERO progress in the 3+ years since the films release. Good job.
Luke is not a mary sue, aside from inside your mind. OF COURSE this is a point that neither you nor ANYONE raised in the ~40 years the franchise has been around for - and it has had its fair share of criticism over this period.
To repeat, rey is THE mary sue. SHE is the mary sue.
