Has anyone seen the infamous fan edit?

Sounds very interesting. So much hate for it online by the corporate internet media. The re-editing of the Luke/Rey stuff at the very least sounds like an improvement. Having their first scene be a training scene was genius. At least you can feel like there was a bigger gap where she's actually trained properly

An improvement, but it has no heart, though. A bunch of action scenes with no character development nor interesting twists.

Well it proves how useless Haldo, Rose and even Leia were, and how artificial the Luke resisting the force thing was. It has plotholes but so did the final movie. There's about 45 minutes worth of actual story in the final movie, the rest was feminist fluff

I was also getting bored like I did when I saw the full movie in the theater.

I have a strong bias towards a different fan edit which removes Rose and Haldo completely, but adds humor, quiet moments for better pacing, answers Force Awakens questions and adds twists. It's told in narrative form. After listening the first time (multiple plays for me), I literally felt like I had viewed a really good Star Wars film instead of only listening to a fan fix of the dreadful Last Jedi.

Highlights:
Rey is powerful because she was conceived through the Force like Anakin, but is still trained by Luke. Luke confronts Snoke and Kylo. Luke did draw his lightsaber while Kylo was sleeping, but it was because Snoke was in his room. Kylo awoke after Snoke disappeared believing Luke was going to kill him. Luke was hiding because he knew Snoke could mess with people's minds and he didn't want Snoke using him to harm others. A wonderful scene with Yoda, Anakin, Obiwan, Quigon, etc. Phasma has more to do and there is a twist for her character. We find out who Snoke is.
And what was the fanedit like?

reply

It's not a real fan edit. It's a publicity stunt.

reply

I thought about that. It would explain why it is easy to find and hasn't been taken down by Disney yet.

The whole Disney buying Star Wars and subsequent fiasco (aka the sequel trilogy + Rogue One) was obviously a publicity stunt, at least so far as Disney is concerned. They clearly don’t give a fuck about SW per se. To them, it’s just another cash cow.
