The sequel/remake trilogy ironically expose how idiotic the originals are. Here's why...
At any point when you have a person even a family member who is involved in genocide even if "there is still good in them" it doesn't matter. A cop isn't going to go up to a murderer (usually) and say "you're forgiven". And think about this, in criminal law we have accessory liability;
"An accessory must knowingly promote or contribute to the crime. In other words, she or he must aid or encourage the offense deliberately, not accidentally. The accessory may withdraw from the crime by denouncing the plans, refusing to assist with the crime, contacting the police, or trying to stop the crime from occurring." https://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/accessory
In other words even if Darth Vader or Kylo Ren didn't order the destruction of those planets they are still accessories to the fact by being present. How do you punish someone who destroys entire planets? Do you skin them alive? I don't know. But Darth Vader is a gas lighting narcissist. Even after all he's done he's still "redeemable". This is a Pulp Fiction mentality where evil criminals are redeemable as long as we find them likeable. But it must feel great knowing you can kill children, exterminate people, be complicit in world destruction, mutilate your son and still be let off the hook cause some family member still "senses good" in you.
This is how Return Of The Jedi should have end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0EqJjUPbLs&list=FLt5o8SFwpEOeYMMhHiu1cHQ&index=48
P.S. Shout out to my homies on Canto Bight and at Disney making money off these idiots killing each other.
