Yeah there's a reason Lor San was on Jakku so close to her, and had the partial map to Luke.

Kylo has so much to gain by lying to her and making her feel like she wants to latch onto him.

Kylo said to let the past die, kill it if you must. Him telling Rey this lie would be part of that all too perfectly, he wants her to let go of her past and to give up the idea of being connected to anything except him.

how about more drama Luke was indirectly responsible for Rey parent's death, we could have gotten more character development

So you're saying maybe Rey and her parents were training with Luke but her parents were killed by Kylo and his boys? I like that.

Could still happen.

If Rey's parents really were random junk traders, then Kylo would have no way of knowing that. Plus, he and Snoke both knew who Rey was in Force Awakens before either of them had met her.

Yes, hence Ren force-pulling the officer after cutting up the control panel and demanding "What girl?!". Not to mention Han offering her a position on the Falcon (which he wouldn't offer to some random), the lightsaber calling to Rey and subsequent force vision, and the deliberate scene cut when Maz asks Han who she is. Everything in TFA points to her being someone, not a nobody.

Also, +1 the darkpast idea. Only issue then would be to explain why Luke didn't recognise her.

"Also, +1 the darkpast idea."

The idea darkpast posted in the topic was the main theory based on Force Awakens, it's basically a compilation of all the clues given. I had stated it myself many times over the years and I'd seen many others land on the same conclusion.

Congrats, you are smarter than both Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy combined. :)
