DJ could be Boba Fett.
Why has no one thought of this theory yet?
shareWhat evidence do you offer to support it?
share1. Boba Fett supposedly survived the Sarlacc Pit in official canon. (He's in the new Battlefront Game, I think).
2. DJ is a scoundrel like Boba Fett, only providing his services when it gains him money. (Notice that he doesn't care if it's the bad guys or the good guys who pay him, as long as he gets paid).
3. He has a similar complexion to Temuera Morrison (not trying to sound racist).
4. He appears to have a stutter, which could be the result of an injury he got from the Sarlacc Pit.
Well, it's plausible. However, Fett never exhibited any slicing skills, and DJ hasn't shown any combat skills, so that doesn't really match. Also, if he's Fett, then where's the Mandalorian armor? Why would he abandon that? Where is Slave One for that matter? Why is he now primarily a slicer and thief rather than continuing his successful career as a bounty hunter?
shareWhy not use Morrison? Pretty sure he's available LOL
...age would be about right...
It would ruin the surprise if you used the same actor.
shareI think the surprise would be ruined by fans trying to figure out why the genetic copy of Jango Fett looks like the guy on the Heineken commercials...but whatever.
The real problem is tha Boba would be around 65 by TLJ...Benico is 50...and talked like Elmer Fudd...pass.
The stutter could be the result of an injury. Who knows what happened to him in the Sarlacc Pitt? Also, 50 and 65 are only about 5 years apart. Not that big of a difference. Besides, actors are often older than the characters they play.
Let's see if I have the approximate timeline right:
Boba is about ten years old at the time of AotC, but he might have an accelerated growth rate.
Which would make him about twenty at the time of RotS.
ANH and TESB take place maybe twenty years later which would make him forty-ish, if he has a standard growth curve.
Which would make him... around SEVENTY at the time of the new trilogy, and DJ looks forty-fifty-ish.
We don't know if he has an accelerated growth rate.
shareThat's the thing, the "accelerated growth curve" is impossible to calculate, because we don't know what happens after they grow quickly to adulthood. Maybe they stay as young or midlife adults for longer than normal humans, maybe they age faster because combat troops have such a short life expectancy. Frankly, the Caminos would probably want them to age fast, so they can sell more new ones.
But I don't want him to be Boba Fett, I want him to be some completely unknown and random opportunist who was hanging out at the casino looking for something to do. The new films ought to have more new characters than old.
You should love episode nine!!! No old characters to speak of...I kind of hate the fact that we have seen no classic alien species other than Chewie in the new trilogy ...but whatever...he'll probably die at the beginning of 9...tending to his Porgs 😉
shareAny new film set decades later than the original trilogy should logically have a mix of old and new characters, with the new predominating. That's just filmmaking common sense, even if some people don't like the idea.
However, I do agree that we should see more of the classic alien species, and more aliens and alien settings in general. And just so you know, my fondest wish was to see Princess Leia triumphant in the ninth film, being crowned queen of the galaxy after having bitch-slapped her useless son into submission. It's been a year now, and I'm still upset that it can't happen. I hope they managed to come up with an equally satisfying ending, but I don't see how they can.
Oh I agree fully! That is why I find it disconcerting that the final installment will be seemingly minus any of the core OT cast...and the new characters woefully underdeveloped...at least from what TFA established as a foundation. TLJ feels like the end of a story...and for me...not a satisfying one.
Oh well...at least my hopes weren't as lofty as yours...Queen Leia...haven't read the aftermath series or bloodline huh? Hell...I just wanted Snoke and Luke to live...you wanted a scene that would have rivaled spacewalk Leia LOL!
Boba is approximately 10 (I believe he was actually 8 but 10 is the number I used as a base due to the ease of working with round numbers.) in AOTC. It is stated that Boba was of unaltered genetic material and therefore will age in a consistent rate as Jango. According to wookipedia the events of ROTJ are 25 years after AOTC...Boba is approximately 35 at this point. TFA is approximately 30 years after ROTJ...boba is Atleast 65...
Slight disclaimer...some math may be off...but not more thaN 3-5 years...official timeline is BBY(before battle of Yavin) and ABY (after battle of Yavin) AOTC IS 22 years prior to BBY AND THERE IS 3 years between ANH and TESB...34 years ABY FOR TFA...
