Star Wars is a Parasite

There are three Star Wars movies. They came out in the 70s and 80s. We got two great movies and one good-but-flawed movie. All in all a classic trilogy for the ages. It was a great run but it ended a long time ago.

All "Star Wars" branded product since then has just capitalized on people's nostalgia and love for the original movies. Basically all the new movies know how to do is evoke Star Wars nostalgia by re-creating scenes and situations from the original movies, but with no substance behind them at all. If the original trilogy never existed and these new movies were somehow made, they would fail, because they're not good movies. If you look at the actual plots they're barely even coherent movies.

The ONLY reason these movies are hits is because of people's love for the original movies and the desire to recapture that feeling. The new movies are literally parasites on the goodwill created by the original trilogy.

I agree

I concur... There is a sad irony in the fanatic holding on to these Star Wars movies eventually leading to their destruction...

Everything has been reinterprated, explained and elaborated so much that I don't think it is possible to see the original movies for what they were...

But people will still come out to see the next one...

People won't keep coming out to see the next one forever. I know I won't. It may be a case of diminishing returns from here, as we get farther and farther from the OT, unless they do something to reinvigorate the franchise, which I guess is what they tried to do here, but their lack of understanding what made SW work in the first place made them miscalculate on an epic scale.

Eventually that "magic" will just be gone, and no amount of beating a dead tauntaun will bring it back.
