The movie was good only when Rey was in it

Anytime Rey was on screen -- training with Luke, talking with Ren via telepathy, teaming up with Ren to battle Snoke's guards, etc. -- the move worked. Whenever she wasn't on the screen, however, the movie dragged big time. So, while we can all agree the movie had issues, the scenes with Rey, at least, were largely flawless.

I agree she was wonderful and much more likable and empathetic than she was in TFA. She owned the screen.

reply

Fairly wooden the first time around. Much more relaxed and assured this time. I wish she was given more screen time. It's too bad they couldn't have just taken out all the crap with Rose (ugh!) and Finn and used that time instead to develop the character of Rey more.

reply

she appeared to have less screentime than tfa, but this happens when you mirror esb and split heroes up

most of the subplots were boring or filler

reply

Click bait. Trolling. Everyone knows Rey is the worst actor in the bunch.

reply

best part was how she didn't need to train, rather she trained herself and even visited the darkside and came back with zero consequence ...

reply

I still don't understand what she was doing in the cavern under the temple. She saw herself in the reflection which means what?

reply

It means she is her family.

I personally still interpret it as her parents being literally "nobody" as she says, but more literally, as in she never had parents.

I think she's a pure Force conception, similar to Anakin except that Anakin at least had a mother.

reply

I hated her in Force Awakens, but she was decent enough here. I felt like she was fleshed out a lot more and she had actual obstacles which I could be emotionally invested in.

reply

As opposed to the rest of the cast - Ridley and Driver can actually act

reply

Completely agreed.

If someone edited together just the non-Rey parts, it would be much more blatant how poorly structured and weakly written those parts are.
