Do low I.Q.s run in the Skywalker family?

Let's look at the evidence.

Shmi: No idea if she has any smarts, as she has about three lines in the whole thing.

Anakin: A real dumbass. Never understood the Jedi philosophy or the politics of his time, let Palpatine play him for a sucker and took twenty years to catch on.

Luke: Dopey as a kid, did not blossom into a genius later in life.

Ben: Dumber than his grandfather. Let's Snoke treat him like a pet rottweiler, understands nothing but whining and violence. Set to fuck up the First Order empire.

Leia: Galactic senator and rebel general by what, age 21? Understands everything about everybody, force in galactic politics through her life, respected by everyone, even her enemies.

So... does that mean that the evident low intelligence only runs in the male line?

reply

No, it just means they tend toward passion/emotionalism. And if you know anybody with a strong emotional streak, you know it doesn't matter how intelligent they are... when their emotions start to run high, any purely rational thinking goes out the window.

reply

To say that someone with super powers tends towards "passion/emotionalism" is to say that they lack the understanding to use their power wisely. Which is absolutely the case with two out of three male Skywalkers, and the other has spent decades refusing to use his powers at all.

So 1) my point stands, and 2) that seems to be a theme through the whole Star Wars saga - the failure to life up to the responsibility that comes with great power. Luke is the only one who ever got it right, and he only got it right part of the time.

reply

Correct. Intelligence does not protect you from manipulation, since brainwashing/propaganda/marketing always plays with your emotions, never your rational thinking.

reply

I agree with LivingMCM, I don't think the Skywalkers are unintelligent, they just tend to have a high emotional intensity.

reply

NO!!! But there is obviously some genetic disorder on the Amidala side of the family that causes heroes to die inexplicably...

reply

Bad writing kills them.

reply

Little of column A...Little of column B 😆

reply

Oh, so it's like the Simpsons family !

reply

Exactly! You are spot ON!

Oh my God, is that more than coincidence?
