No lightsaber duel...a first in the Skywalker saga!
Unforgivable!
shareAnd no one lost an arm in the 2nd of the trilogy for the first time! :O
shareThere were two sort-of duels. Luke (albeit a Force projection) did face off with Ren with sabers, and Rey and Ren joined forces to defeat Snoke and the Praetorian guard. That one was more sabers vs vibroswords I guess (was nice to see the latter in a movie finally).
shareYeah...you just made my point for me in your first sentence...finger banging your cousin sort of gets you to third base...but you know...not really. Force projections can't duel...and the saber he "used" had been destroyed earlier. And while the best action sequence in the film...the fight between the praetorian guards was not a lightsaber duel...unacceptable in a Star Wars film where lightsabers are present.
shareYes, true. I was half expecting to see Leia using a saber at some point. Would have been cool, like seeing Yoda use one in the prequels.
shareSure...I would have been super on board with that!!! Always thought it was a mistake to not have her force sensitive in TFA. As far as this movie...I had delusions of grandeur...mega duel with everyone!!! Rey,Kylo Luke Snoke, praetorian guards and the Knights of Ren. Storm troopers and droids getting flung at one another...fucking pandemonium in a red blue and green laser storm...but what we got was ok I guess?
shareLast Jedi was also the first with no time gap of several years before it, since it started right after TFA (and the opening scroll had almost nothing to update people on, so it even mentioned the destruction by Starkiller base that took place in the middle of TFA)
It was also the first episode where the title is spoken in a line of dialogue
It was also the first episode to have a side plot that was extraneous
Although all are completely valid...none are unforgivable...the lightsaber thing will grate on my nerves like solo never flying the falcon in Jedi!
