CROWD REPORTS

I saw it on the 14th at 7pm EST. Showing was sold out. There was actually 3 auditoriums for 7pm. Usually my theater starts off with 1 auditorium (I live in small town and the local theater has 8 auditoriums) and then creates new showings in other auditoriums if the original one sells out. So my showing was sold out. Had ZERO trailers unless you count some Throwback Thursday movie preview as one. Normally most movies have just 2-3 trailers/previews though and not like 30 minutes of them. There was SOME cheering at the end and laughter throughout, but it was a "tough" crowd overall. The whole audience wasn't laughing at same stuff or cheering at anything or freaking out when something big went down. And most just got up and left when the end credits started rolling.

Went to the 7 p.m. IMAX showing in Memphis. We FINALLY got our first IMAX that shows theatrical films. We used to have one that showed the short-form docs. But, they went to RealD 3D a few years ago.

So, it was fun to go to both a new "Star Wars" and the first-ever showing in our new IMAX auditorium. We even have a corner entrance with twin blue-illuminated entries, and large IMAX-lit badging in the auditorium. It was pretty sweet!

Okay, now on to your questions :-) The crowds for the 7 p.m. showings at the IMAX and standard auditoriums were NOTHING compared to those for the 10:00 p.m. or so showings. It. was. packed! My wife and I were having to press through the crowds, trying to find a way out.

Trailers: No Peter Jackson's "Mortal Engines," which I was told was supposed to be shown. But, we did get: "Incredibles 2" teaser (which was the audience favorite), "Infinity War," "Ready Player One," and some others. I just was ready for the movie to start! :-)

There was applause and surprised laughter at some of the big moments. And, of those still in the auditorium, applause especially for Carrie in the cast listing and in her "In Memory of" title.

Saw it 8:30am Friday 15th, opening day.
Crowd was trying to be hopeful I think, at least one or two people.
I did not sense much energy. The theater, Century Shoreline in
Mtn. View, CA, was full. I know that because I got the last decent
seat, and there was one left in the front row way off to the left side.

I can't really say I was disappointed because I expected it to be bad.
I can say, it was not worth going and I would not go to the any other
Star Wars movies.

This movie was made for a ADHD children who do not understand or
care about plots and just want to see special effects.

With all the money they spend on these movies one has to wonder
why are they all so bad - and getting worse over time? It was all
special effects. What are special effects without a good storyline?
