More of the same please!

Disney spent bucket loads of money on acquiring Star Wars, so they needed their first Star Wars movie to be a positive hit (Positive with fans and critics alike) and frightened by the negative feedback received by the Star Wars prequels Disney played it safe, very safe.

Ignoring any original ideas by the Star Wars creator Disney hired a hack to make a sure fire hit and made a safe politically correct remake of Star Wars: A New Hope, for the safe zone millennials of the 21st Century.

So again we got to see the destruction of a new Death Star, a new Darth Vader, a new desert planet, same old, same old.

A year later we got to see more of the same too with an unimaginative spin-off, and until Star Wars has the balls to do something original on film, Stars Wars is going to be like buying a McDonald’s, every year You’ll know what to expect - more of the same.

reply

Exactly, why take a risk in being creative when you can just make billions of dollars remaking the same old sh!t over and over again. Star Wars officially died the day that Disney bought it.

reply

I can tell you don't like the direction Star Wars is going...which is fine although I do not understand all the energy you and others are willing to invest in something you don't like...seem obsessive, but whatever...

I would like for you or anyone else to explain what was so politically incorrect about the original film?

reply

I personally want these Star Wars movies to be good, I am hoping that by voicing my opinion Disney will listen and they will start actually putting forth some goddamn effort like Lucas did. I don't want Star Wars to turn into the Alien/Terminator franchise, started off with some of the greatest films I have ever seen and then progressively turned to sh!t afterwards.

reply

Yep, Star Wars is going the way of Aliens and Terminator, its gonna get steadily worse and worse til no one gives a shit anymore.

reply

And once again...what was so politically incorrect with the original?

reply

Where did I say a New Hope was politically incorrect?

reply

Your second paragraph..."politically correct remake of a new hope"...please explain...how was the original politically incorrect as to need a PC updated version?

reply

An original of anything doesn’t have to be politically incorrect for an updated reimagined take on something to have politically correct elements in it.

reply

But then by your own argument, the original was politically correct as well...so having the sequel PC is a continuation of an already existing formula...sounds like you want to have your cake and eat it too...

reply

No offense, Mr. or Mrs. Feet, but your logic skills are a bit lacking.

reply

Whatever you say ma'am....

reply

And, your complete lack of intelligence led you directly to a joke with misogynist undertones. Congrats. You're a douche.

reply

If you say so ma'am

reply

I am hoping that by voicing my opinion Disney will listen

While it IS refreshing when you drop the charade to post actual jokes like this, it still defeats its own purpose, since it's not as funny once it's 100% obvious that there is nothing serious in any of your posts.

reply

So you're bashing a film you haven't seen yet? How can anyone disagree with such well-informed opinions!

But seriously, Disney took on a massive creative challenge when they bought the franchise, perhaps even a creative trap. If they get TOO original it won't feel like Star Wars, if they aren't at least somewhat original everyone bitches about it being derivative (glaring at TFA). Their second did a better job of balancing originality and being Star Wards than the first, so I remain... hopeful. But I don't think they dare do what Lucas did with the prequels and give it an entirely different look and feel, and that does remain one of the virtues of the prequels - giving us a more expansive view of the same universe.

reply

I could of posted it in Force Awakens or Rogue One but I chose here, it hardly matters, thats the problem with Disneys Star Wars.

reply

i don't beleive it was unforeseen from their point of view... I think they bought the rights with the exact intention of making cookie cutter versions of these movies... it's their business model... If their rights allow, then rides, toys and such will follow...

They realise that Star Wars has become Cinderella, Snow White, Lion King, etc... A fairy tale for kids that adults will feel nostalgic about and will pass on to their children.. The difference is it's live action instead of just animation, but as we saw with Beauty and The Beast, they can milk different formats as well...

It's brilliant what they do... From a business point of view they will have multiple generations of fans, watching their movies as family and friendship bonding events, in only 10 years of owning the rights... It's brilliant what they do, from a business point of view...
