OK, I have to ask. Can someone--anyone (not necessarily just the OP)--tell me what you mean when you call someone a hipster these days?? I mean I obviously recognize the style of dress that many people call "hipster," but what are you talking about in terms of values, thinking, movies, art, etc? I'm an adult who works with teenagers and they are always throwing around the term 'hipster' (often in a dismissive, almost insulting way) but no one can ever tell me what they really mean by that, and it's been killing me!!!
Hi, they can dress wateva style except mainstream. Hipster is basically anythin non-mainstream. They believe they r smarter than every1 bec they defy status quo and r da trendsetterz. But now they r just viewed by every1 as just a bunch of douchebagz who try too hard 2 be cool when da fundamentalism of bein cool is not really tryin at all.

shareOk...thanks. I didn't get a notification of your reply, just happened across it by accident. But it seems like there's more to the "hipster" label than just being non-mainstream. There are lots of non-mainstream groups of people, not all of them are hipsters.
But I appreciate your post. Even if your spelling is pretty silly. ;^)
Basically, hipster is a term sheep use to make themselves feel better.
