She gave me an early 90s Meg Ryan vibe. Anyone else?

This film was quirky, engaging, thought-provoking and downright gross but I loved it!! Did anyone else get a Meg Ryan vibe from the lead actress? sort of a cutesy girl-next-door type. Anyway, once you get past the grossness the film grows on you and pulls you in. I loved the editing and camera angles too.
The film had heart too. Showing her struggles with her upbringing, trying to get her parents back together etc. The ending was just perfect IMO.

Good observations. She does remind me of Meg Ryan. There is a sweet honesty in her character that transcends the "ewwwww" factor. A courageous and unforgettable performance. And besides, she's a doll, and her youthful beauty and sweet disposition is played off nicely against her disgusting proclivities and her embarrassing infirmity. I think a young Meg Ryan might have been intrigued by this script, before rejecting it. Bravo, Carla Juri.

I actually saw more of a young Melanie Griffith vibe...

Right. Well, I have to-- I have to go now, Duane, because I, I'm due back on the planet Earth.

I thought of Meg too.

I was just going to say the same thing. I told a friend who suggested this movie that she reminds me a lot of a young Ally Sheedy.

I didn't notice until you brought it up. I see it now.

When being mauled by a bear with tarantulas for teeth, just remain optimistic :)

Definitely see it. Kristen Stewart, too.
