ok, WTF was up with the daughter suddenly becoming a flesh-eater?

I'm a bit surprised there wasn't a thread here already about this...I've been busy for Christmastime and just got around to watching the final three episodes this weekend.

This scene--really similar to a famous scene at the end of the film Night Of The Living Dead--came out of left field, and for a moment I thought I had changed channels by mistake and was suddenly watching TWD on AMC.

I found it really off-putting and not in the spirit of everything we had seen already through 2 seasons. Yeah, some of the "zombies" (like Camille) were starting to show signs of decay, but all of sudden introducing cannibalism of the living (or "had just been living" in the case of the mother who had just been shot) really seemed like an odd avenue for this show.

Some of the revenants do become more zombie like it was revealed. We saw one eating something in the woods, we saw a deer that'd been nibbled, we heard these flesh eaters lived in the caves, the same one's that Simon & Adele went into at the end of Season 2. we were also told that the normal Revenants tied the dead Police to the trees to stop the flesh eaters eating their bodies. It wasn't random, it's been alluded to several times. They did say why it happened early in S2 as well but I can't recall the reason.

It was a surprise for that character. Up until that point none of the returned we were familiar with had gone cannibal, except for Serge (and he was doing it before he died). Camille made a comment about how the zombie-like returned had not been mourned (which may or may not be true), but Audrey was clearly mourned.

It was strange but so were the marks showing up on their bodies when they got far from the main group. I think that's why she was doing it. She was sort of out of her mind and being so close to her mom sort of made her mom go all crazy because of the mind reading and stuff.

It was a bit out of left field but not that far a stretch because of the tree police and the random animal.

It could be they needed to be close to one another because of that being how they appeared when Victor summoned them.

there were those returned, who didn't let the rest leave the village, basically they were the zombies (eating little animals in the woods, the policemen, the deer). lucy told us that those are zombies, because there is nobody in the world anymore who still loves them (wants them back alive). i don't know what happened to her father, but he was hit in the head and maybe he either died or was in coma. at the moment audrey's mother died sitting next to her, there was no other living left, who still loved her and wanted her to return, so she turned into a zombie. and that zombie was starving for quite a while, so audrey just ate the flesh she found: her mother.

It had already been established that those with nobody to wait for them reverted to base nature. Audrey was rejected by the one person who might have been waiting for her, so she reverted.

When Toni was chained up in the cellar, before he got away, it was decided not to give him any food. I'm supposing they starved Audrey as well.

I think Sandrine had died - Audrey had told Julie that her mother wasn't moving - so Audrey decided not to waste the fresh meat?

Just a guess.
