The first episode of Maron about an Internet douche who couldn't stop posting negative things about him, and here you are! I'd say the show was pretty solidly on the mark.

Yeah..

I guess pilot was pretty solidly on the mark for me.
When he said "I'm not for everybody", that was the time I turned off.

He is really trying to be like Louis C.K. but his comedic style is just not really cut out for half hour show like this.

But that is just one man's opinion.
I hope you guys enjoy the show. However, I won't be continue on.

I don't think it's anything like Louie. Louie is very slow, cerebral - it builds to its end - you have to ride out the episode for the payoff at the end.

Maron is much more direct. It hits its point throughout.

Regardless, I think Maron's stand-up is absolutely brilliant. He should have "made it" ages ago. He can be utterly brilliant from the most cynical, darkest p.o.v.

He sucks but he doesn't let that stop him -- just like me.

I've always liked him, and I like the show. He does have to be careful to touch on the dark places without getting his wheels stuck in them, but there have been a lot of good moments in the 4 episodes I've watched. I think "Marc's Dad" is the best one overall so far, in terms of crafting, and the closing with Andy Kindler was really enjoyable. Can't believe how perfect Judd Hirsch is as his dad.

I have to be careful myself about grinding down into the dark places, so I haven't followed Maron religiously over the years, but I definitely get where he's coming from (his dad is like a hybrid of my parents) and find him interesting and yes, funny.

No, he's not for everyone, but I don't think he actually wears that as a badge of pride either. I'm glad he's doing this show.
