What's with the bromides?
If this show comes back, Maron should really push to get better writers. I've not come across a show where the writing felt so clichéd and tiresome in a long time.
I know Maron is a fan of bromides, but having a show where every single dialogue is laden with silly catchphrases and not much else, it feels like he's so desperate to make a "brand" of himself that he'd rather should sell T-Shirts with his witticisms than write a TV show around them.
On this show, Maron comes across as extremely shallow and and not very bright, which is all due to the awfully written dialogue. I guess this is done for IFC who wanted to dumb down Maron's type of comedy to make it TV compatible. But it doesn't seem to bother him to take part in his own demise. Strange. He must be really desperate to "break big".
